Hamakua to Host Community Development Workshops

Want to make a difference in your community, but don’t know how? The Hamakua Community Development Corporation is sponsoring a series of workshops in April and May to teach the basics of “Community Organization Development.” Tuition is $10.00 per class. April 6: The Basics of Non Profit Boards/Community Groups
Location: North Hawaii Education & Research Center , Honokaa
Presenter: Diane Chadwick - Philanthropic Services Officer, Hawaii Community Foundation.
Topics: An overview of non-profit boards in Hawaii , mission statements, etc.

April 13: Legal Affairs
Location: North Hawaii Education & Research Center , Honokaa
Presenter: George Zweibel, Attorney, President of the Legal Aid Society, Honolulu
Topics: Board governance, fiduciary duties, board conduct, conflict of interest policies.

April 20: Managing with Aloha
Location: Laupahoehoe High School Band Room
Presenter: Rosa Say, Founder, Say Leadership Coaching and author of Managing with Aloha
Topic: Bringing Hawaii's Universal Values to the Art of Business

April 27: Funding Resources
Location: North Hawaii Education & Research Center, Honokaa
Presenters: Tim O'Connell, Assistant to the State Director, USDA Rural Development; and Beth Dykstra, County of Hawai`i Department of Research and Development
Topics: Meet representatives from local agencies that fund community projects on our island.

May 4: Financial Matters
